Winter slumber

Winter slumber

The quiet is light

as the trees stand

barren of leaves

nothing to whistle

in the wind.

The light is quiet

as it nears

its winter slumber.

Winter has not been my favorite season in the midwest, although this year I committed to appreciating what she has to offer. I am inviting a non-judging perspective, an openness to the unique gifts she has to offer. My intention is to let go when I feel an aversion for the cold and colorless that comes with winter, to let go when I feel myself attaching to the warm and bright of the other seasons. Here’s to ‘what is’ and simply being with it.

* I took this photo of the Iowa River and her trees in Iowa City, Iowa at Lower City Park.

You definitely understand how to bring a problem
to light and make it important. More and more people eally
need to check this out and understand this side
of the story. I can’t believe you’re nnot more pkpular because you definitely have the
    gift.
